The Department of Food Science & Technology, following the needs of society for a modern and pioneering University Department, deals with the production and processing of food that is an integral part of human life and health.
Given that in recent decades we have increasingly realized the enormous importance of nutrition, not only for health but also for the quality of our lives, there is a strong need for scientific knowledge to be produced, developed and transferred to society through highly qualified scientists in this field. This is the ultimate and ambitious goal of the Department of Food Science & Technology within the framework of synergies and interdisciplinary flows between and among the other departments that make up the School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Patras.
To achieve the above goals, a special 5-year Undergraduate Study Program was designed , which is expected to lead to the award of the Integrated Master Level 7 title to its graduates, taking into account the most modern educational requirements at an international level, and adopting modern and innovative practices in both the theoretical and laboratory training of its students.
The courses and workshops are held in modern and fully equipped building facilities, creating the necessary conditions for a beautiful and youthful academic environment.
The Department of Food Science & Technology, although new, aspires to be one of the most dynamic and modern Agricultural Departments in Greece that will not lag behind its counterparts abroad, pursuing an excellent climate of cooperation, academic development and support between the teaching and administrative staff and the students, remaining by their side throughout your studies.
Completing studies at the Department of Food Science & Technology provides its students with a Digital Skills Certificate (certificate of computer knowledge), while attending specific courses and completing a Master’s Thesis related to Oenology leads to receiving a Certificate of Oenological Education.
