The ultimate goal of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture is to train scientists who will contribute to the development of the production of animal products and fish, with high nutritional value, attractiveness and safety for consumers, and who will be able to occupy high-level job positions both in Greece and abroad.
The purpose of the Undergraduate Program of Studies is to offer students comprehensive and interdisciplinary knowledge through interaction with other sciences such as statistics, chemistry, hydrobiology, microbiology, food production and processing, as well as entrepreneurship, within the context of the interface between the University and productive entities.
To achieve the above goals, a special 5-year Undergraduate Study Program was designed , which leads to the award of the Integrated Master Level 7 title to its graduates , taking into account the most modern educational requirements at an international level, and adopting modern and innovative practices in both the theoretical and laboratory training of its students.
Professional Rights
Graduates of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the University of Patras ( level 6 degree ), register with the Geotechnical Engineering and Aquaculture Association ( Information Brochure ), receive a license to practice as a Geotechnical Engineer with a specialization in Ichthyology ( Government Gazette A83/2023, no. 131, par. 3, cc. ee ) , having the ability and skills to be employed in general in Public Organizations , the Private Sector and International Organizations.
