The mission of the Department of Agriculture is to provide high-quality education to its students, so that they acquire knowledge, abilities and skills that enable them to manage natural resources in a scientifically rational manner , while simultaneously achieving an increase in income and the efficiency of agricultural production.

The Undergraduate Program of the Department of Agriculture is designed to provide future agronomists with broader scientific knowledge so that they can design and implement modern and innovative methods in Agriculture with the ultimate goal of producing, processing and marketing quality agricultural products, within the framework of sustainable development and environmental protection. Students of the Department of Agriculture have the opportunity to develop research skills through their Bachelor’s Thesis, while being properly prepared for participation in postgraduate courses of study.

Finally, the department’s Undergraduate Curriculum ensures the ability of students to interact with other scientific disciplines to address problems of an Agricultural or interdisciplinary nature.

The  Department of Agriculture  has  a 5-year study cycle.

Professional Rights​​

According to Law 5039/2023, article 131 par. 1 , graduates of the Department of Agriculture of the University of Patras acquire full professional rights to practice the profession of Agriculturist .

Upon completion of five years of studies:

They have the right to register with the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece (GEOT.EE) , which is a necessary condition for practicing the profession of Agronomist.

They can be employed in the Public Sector , in Vocational Education , in Public Organizations , in the Private Sector , in International Organizations and as freelance agricultural professionals (marketing of agricultural chemicals and supplies, agricultural consultants, etc.) , utilizing their scientific knowledge and skills.
